Keyword Elite may not be the answer to keyword research above all other tools. Is it over-hyped, over-complicated trickery?

Keyword Elite - Too Much Trouble - and flawed?

I've had enough keyword tools, thrust at me - and few really work - so when Keyword Elite showed up I said:

'Huh, more hype!'

After all, keyword research tools are ten a penny. And there are those services that will send you a bunch of keywords every month. Usually things you're not interested in and can't see how anyone else would be.

Oh, yes, I've bought these things, and some are still sitting clogging up my hard drive - because they were no good.

All dressed up in a fancy package

So I looked at Keyword Elite with suspicion - I didn't want to waste more money. And the blurb seemed a lot of hype - bull if you like. I reckon most of these keyword tools are a load of rubbish - they just do what you can do for yourself in minutes, all dressed up in a fancy package that makes it seem good.

When I studied the stuff about Keyword Elite I was still not impressed, and thought it was the same as the others - and noted that he shows you little screenshots that were so tiny they could have been from any program you like to name. That's just a con, isn't it? I mean if it is too small to read…..

Too good to be true????

Also, the sales story about Keyword Elite sounded too good to be true - and if it sounds too good to be true it usually is. Now I'm not some grizzly old moaner who never buys anything or never does anything. No, I'm a doer and an earner on the internet - truth is I packed up my offline publishing business to concentrate on the internet.

And of course, I need good keyword research like you do. And a keyword research tool that gives you the answers the way you want them.

But when things are dressed up you have to be careful to look behind the show, and testimonials are all part of the show these days. They don't impress me. Why? Because they are usually written by the friends of the guy marketing the stuff, and they expect to make money selling it for him. So you'd do best to ignore them.

When I look at software like Keyword Elite I ask myself:

'How easy is this to use?'

I do this because it is easy to be taken in by the hype. A very famous and successful marketer told me years ago that a program needs to be just simple enough for the punters to think they could do it - but just too complicated for them to actually do so! When I read about Keyword Elite I kept thinking it might be like that.

….Then I saw who had developed this software

It was then that I realised who had written this software. It was Brad Callen. Now I had already used his methods to improve the ranking of my websites - and got into the top ten - and knew that he was one of the good guys. So for me, that was a big plus. It tipped the scales, and I bought Keyword Elite.

Not as simple as it seems

When I opened it, I found that Keyword Elite seemed simple - but wasn't. You really have to read the fine print, and do as he says. And this is a complex program - well it's not one program it is FIVE-in-one! Yes, you can use it to do five different things, and of course, finding the keywords is the first. You can find the best ones from the best sources - really. So, I could see that you could get keywords - but so you can from zillions of other programs, including some free ones.

It is when you get to the second project or program that things start to warm up. Here, you put your keyword list in, and you can find just about everything you need to know - whether the keyword is worth using, and if you're into Adwords advertising what the top bids are. The good thing is that Callen uses the industry standard for measuring the worth of a keyword - and an extra method as well - so you know where you are going.

Keyword Elite saved me a packet with the first set of keywords I tested - only two had a cat in hell's chance of making a penny! Horrible competition. But later, delving deeper, I started to get positive results.

Builds Adsense pages!

The next thing you can do with Keyword Elite is mind-boggling. It will build Adsense pages for you around the best keywords! Now, recently there has been a lot of rubbish talked about the death of Adsense, but the truth is that those guys have an axe to grind. They expected to make money from Adsense alone, where the truth is that Adsense does earn money, but it is just part of the marketing story. But a very useful earner, thank you.

Using this part of Keyword Elite will save you a lot of time - and you will get targeted pages. Neat.

How did the top websites get to the top?

The next tool is not much to do with keywords, but don't knock it. You can use it to find how the leading web sites for a keyword get to the top - and whether it will easy or difficult for you to compete with them. Very useful if you're a serious marketer.

Right at the end of Keyword Elite is the goldmine - let's say this is crock of gold at the end of the rainbow, but it's for real. Now the thing is that you can make a packet with Adwords, or throw money down the drain. I've done both!

However, Keyword Elite keeps you in profit. How? It allows you to spy on your competitors and see what ads they are making money with. This way you soon find out who is making money, and you can do the same.
