How to turn this tricky software into something good

Every guru out there reckons he has the best keyword research tool, and Brad Callen is no exception. He reckons his Keyword Elite is the tops. Well, Keyword Elite may be, but if you buy it you may be heading for trouble. This is not me being sceptical, but the results of reviewing and using the software.

Mind you, this is not only a criticism of Keyword Elite as of keyword research tools in general. Sure, they find keywords, but do they find the right ones? And do they tell you – and show you – why these are the best. That's what few do. This is what I wanted to know when I looked into Keyword Elite.

Take a popular keyword

Let's take an example of a very popular keyword 'golf'. There are so many people playing golf badly who are desperate to play well that there are millions of pages about golf.

How does Keyword Elite handle these keywords? And just how many pages are there about golf? 578 million. Not a good keyword to promote your site. No hope at all, despite the large number of searches.

What does Keyword Elite do here?

You would expect that the keywords with the lower number of pages are where you should go – so long as plenty of people are clicking using these keywords. There are about 8,400 search for club discount golf on Overture, and will be taken to pages where people have bid for discount golf clubs. Complicated. One question is whether Keyword Elite can sort this out.

On the face of discount golf clubs sounds like a good key phrase, except for the loads of competition. How do you sort that out? This is where a good keyword research tool comes in.

Does Keyword Elite has the answers – and the right ones? I can tell you that many programs don't. Actually, Keyword Elite does a good job. It shows you the ranking of the keyword using two different methods, one well-known in the industry and the other not well-known. So Keyword Elite does things right here. Of course, it gives you the information so you can make your own decision.

Five programs in one

What makes Keyword Elite difficult to use at first is that there actually FIVE programs in one in it. If you just use the one to find keywords, you have wasted your money. Well, that is pretty obvious, because Keyword Elite produces a list of keywords, then it takes it to pieces and sorts it out.

But how are you going to use the keywords to make money? You try to get a good ranking with the search engines, and probably use Adwords to get traffic and Adsense to get extra revenue. This is where Keyword Elite scores. It tells you the bidding range for Adwords, so you can see whether advertising there is likely to make money.

So far so good. But what about the competition? This is where Keyword Elite really comes up trumps – in fact this is one of the reasons why after being so sceptical I recommend it.. First, Keyword Elite has a program built in that finds web sites that are already using the keywords you have selected, and gives data on how well they are doing.

For example, it shows the page rank and the factors that Google uses to decide where to rank web pages. You will be able to see whether you can rally compete in this market.

You can't beat it if you use Adwords

If you use Google Adwords, then you really need Keyword Elite – there's nothing else to touch it. You see, the last program allows you to see just each web site is ranked for a keyword, what their ad looks like. You can also set this program up to run each day so you can see how long the ad has been running. The longer it has been running, the more profitable it is!

If that is not enough, Keyword Elite has one more program which actually creates Adsense pages to help you make money that way. This is a real bonus, not found anywhere but in Keyword Elite.

As I said, I was very sceptical about Keyword Elite at first. I'd hear it all before. But once I delved into the program, I started to see its benefits. You need to be patient when you use it, doing one 'project' as Brad calls – I'd say one program at a time - it at a time to get the feel of things.
